could work in our community Our bicycles were either stolen by new owners majority or found abandoned and in disrepair We learned that this type of bike share leads to rapid volunteer burnout While the bicycle share is on hold for now there is a very good chance another form of bike share can blossom here given the right combination of partners knowledge and passion Thank you Gini Dalgas Canmore What kind and why Morten I have a Brompton foldable Great when travelling Ron Just got one in the last month or so A vintage Raleigh 20 with 3 speed internal hub Modifi ed it a bit added a rack and different handlebars Now folds a bit smaller than the original version The relatively large frame for a folder works well for someone my large size Still to come changing the rear cog to give me somewhat lower gears Best part The bike was free something that was being tossed out by someone who didnt realise its potential and had apparently put on tires that were too large to work on this bike Cost so far a couple of hours work and parts that I already had Maybe 10 or so for the gearing change and a couple of deluxe accessories and it will be all round perfect for me Dwight Since I dont have one now I might buy the Origin 8 just because it is the cheapest and I dont know that I would enjoy riding a folding bike If I knew I liked them already Id maybe get a Bike Friday They seem to be good quality and I like the case that doubles as a trailer Karen I have a little Dahon Eco3 and took it with me to San Fran Rode it all over the city and across the Bay bridge It really made the trip even more special Norifumi I have a 5LINKS http 5links jp easy go folding bike and its changed my bicycle life I can go far more less annoying about rain weather Especially I like is go half way with train and go back with bicycle method Scott We have matching Dahon P8 s they are not only convenient but the most comfortable riding of the bikes we own Carl Ive had a late 60 s Italian U bike for two feedback Tom You are absolutely right Although that feature in Issue 52 pp 46 37 was geared more towards lady riders step through frames are for all riders and are perfect for people who dont want to have to swing their leg over a straight top tube A RIDE TO THE THEATER One balmy summer evening I surprised my two young sons 4 and 6 with their fi rst ever tickets to see a theater production of Peter and the Wolf Never mind the light rain falling or the sun dimming Never mind my satin dress We would travel to the theater by our usual means by bicycle Cycling delivers a person ready for the venue looking fresh rosy alert and glowing That special evening was made particularly memorable by the sensuality of riding home quietly in the jasmine rich evening air with cool ocean mist on our skin a bright moon and Prokofi ev melodies still frolicking in our heads Had I chosen to drive our car we would have missed all that Laura Wells Pacifi c Grove CA
